What Does Luke 9:30 Mean?
Suddenly Jesus is not alone in his glory: Moses and Elijah stand talking with him. The giver of the law and the greatest of the prophets, men of Sinai and Carmel, separated from this night by many centuries, appear and converse with the Lord on the mountain.
All that God spoke through law and prophets now gathers in person around Jesus, the One toward whom every earlier word was pointing. Moses and Elijah do not compete with him; they attend him. The scene also carries a quiet comfort: God is able to bring his servants of ages past to stand in glory beside his Son, and not one of his faithful is forgotten before him.
