What Does Mark 10:2 Mean?
The questioners arrive with a motive Mark names plainly: tempting him. Divorce was a disputed and dangerous subject, the very issue on which John the Baptist had confronted Herod in this same region. A wrong word could entangle Jesus legally, politically, or with the crowds.
