Jesus lets the objection pass and keeps searching the faces -- Mark, who knows how the story ends, writes that he looked round "to see her that had done this thing." The gaze is patient and unhurried; he will wait until she comes forward.
He will not let her disappear with an anonymous cure, because he has more to give her than the healing -- a word, a name, a peace she cannot carry off from the hem of a garment.
