What Does Matthew 12:30 Mean?
Jesus states a sharp and searching truth. In the matter of his kingdom there is no neutral ground. Whoever is not with him stands against him; whoever does not gather with him scatters. The image is of a harvest: one either helps bring in the flock or drives it away.
The words call for decision. To stand aloof from Christ is not to be safely uncommitted but to be on the other side. His critics, by opposing him, reveal where they truly stand.
