Jesus completes the word He began: they will kill Him, and on the third day He shall be raised. The promise of resurrection stands right beside the announcement of death, yet the disciples hear mostly the sorrow and are filled with grief.
The third day is no afterthought; it is the goal toward which the whole path runs. Death does not have the last word, for the Father will raise Him.
