What Does Matthew 2:11 Mean?
The seekers enter the house, find the child with his mother Mary, and fall down in worship. Then they open their treasures and lay before him gold, frankincense, and myrrh, the costliest things they carried.
They give their best to the King, and worship and gift go together. Honor that costs nothing is not yet worship; these travelers pour out their treasures at his feet. To meet Christ truly is to bow before him and to bring him not our leftovers but the best of what we have.
