What Does Matthew 22:42 Mean?
The question is doctrine the Pharisees know cold: the Christ -- the Anointed One, the promised King -- is "the son of David," as the prophets foretold (2 Samuel 7:12-13; Isaiah 11:1). Their answer is correct, and incomplete.
"What think ye of Christ?" remains the hinge question of every life. The Pharisees can recite His pedigree while rejecting His person -- He stands before them as they answer.
