What Does Matthew 22:44 Mean?
The psalm sets two speakers before us: "The LORD said unto my Lord." God speaks to David's Lord, seating Him at His right hand -- the place of highest honor and power -- until every enemy lies beneath His feet.
The apostles heard in this verse the story of Jesus: risen, ascended, "on the right hand of God" (Acts 2:34-36; Hebrews 1:13), reigning until the last enemy, death itself, is destroyed (1 Corinthians 15:25-26).
