What Does Matthew 25:7 Mean?
Every maiden rises at the shout; no one intends to miss the feast. Trimming meant tending the wick and feeding the flame with oil so the lamp would burn clean and bright. For five of them the act succeeds; for the other five it only reveals what is missing.
The moment of crisis does not create character; it discloses it. All ten do the same outward thing — rise, trim, hope — but only stored oil can answer a midnight need.
