What Does Matthew 26:20 Mean?
Passover began at sundown. Jesus reclines at table -- the posture of free men at this feast -- with the twelve, the family He has gathered around Himself for three years.
Around that table sit future pillars of the church, a betrayer, and a denier, and Jesus knowingly breaks bread with them all. He does not withhold the meal from the failing. The night He is betrayed is the night He chooses for the supper of His love.
