What Does Matthew 9:32 Mean?
No sooner do the two healed men depart than yet another need presses in upon Jesus. A man who cannot speak, his muteness bound up with the oppression of an evil spirit, is brought to him by others who carry the case to the only one they believe can help. The needs come to Jesus one after another, without pause or rest.
This steady stream of the afflicted reveals a world groaning under sickness and dark spiritual powers, and a Lord who turns none of them away. Where bystanders might see only a hopeless and silenced man, those who bring him see the one Person able to set him free. So they carry him to Jesus, and their simple act of bringing is itself a kind of faith, trusting that he can do what no one else can.
