What Does Philemon 1:24 Mean?

Paul names four more companions who join in greeting Philemon: Marcus (Mark), Aristarchus, Demas, and Lucas (Luke). He calls them his fellow labourers, partners in the demanding work of spreading the gospel.

These are real names of real people who served alongside Paul, several of them known from his other letters and from the book of Acts. Their inclusion shows the breadth of the team God had gathered around the apostle. The verse is a quiet honor roll of ordinary believers whose faithful labor advanced the work of Christ, reminding us that the gospel moves forward through many hands joined together in common cause.
