Anticipating an objection, Paul asks whether perhaps people simply had no chance to hear. He answers emphatically that they have. Borrowing the words of the psalm that describes the heavens declaring God's glory, he applies them to the spread of the gospel: its sound has gone out to all the earth, its words to the world's far edges.
