Romans 3:16 Meaning and Explanation

Quoting Isaiah, Paul names the wreckage that the way of sin leaves in its wake: ruin and misery. These are not arbitrary punishments tacked on from outside but the native fruit of a life turned from God. The road itself ends in desolation.

There is a sobering honesty here about where sin actually goes. It promises much and delivers ruin, to the one who walks it and to those in its path. Set against this, the way Christ opens is life and peace. The verse quietly asks the reader which road they are on, and points longingly toward the better way that leads home.
