Though scattered like seed among the nations, the people will remember the LORD in distant lands, raise their children, and return to Him.

What Does Zechariah 10:9 Mean?

The image shifts to a sower scattering seed. Even the dispersion of God's people among the nations is not random loss but purposeful sowing. In far-off countries, surrounded by strangers, they will remember the LORD who is still their God.

Memory leads to return. They will live and raise their children in those distant places, and then turn again toward home and toward Him. The verse holds a quiet assurance for any who feel far from God: distance does not break His hold. He plants His people where He wills, keeps His name alive in their hearts, and draws them back at last.

In the Original Language

zara (זָרַע), 'sow' -- to scatter seed, here the dispersion that God intends for future harvest.
