What Does Zechariah 6:4 Mean?
Throughout these visions Zechariah is accompanied by an angel who explains what he sees. Faced with the rush of chariots and horses, the prophet turns again to his guide and humbly asks for understanding, 'What are these, my lord?'
His question models the posture of every faithful reader of God's word. Zechariah does not pretend to grasp the vision on his own, nor does he turn away in confusion; he asks. The Lord delights to teach those who come willing to be taught, and the honest question of a humble heart is always the doorway to deeper sight.
