What Does Zechariah 7:2 Mean?
Men with Babylonian-flavored names, Sherezer and Regemmelech, arrive with their company at the temple. They have come to entreat the LORD, a gesture that shows the returned community taking its worship seriously even before the building is complete.
To seek God's face is the right instinct, yet the chapter will test whether their seeking is truly aimed at Him. Coming to the house of God is good; coming with a heart open to His answer is better. The delegation models the first step of every honest prayer: drawing near and asking.
