What Does 1 John 2:10 Mean?

John gives the bright counterpart. The one who loves his brother abides in the light, and there is no cause of stumbling in him. Love keeps us on a sure path.

Love is not only proof that we belong to the light; it keeps us walking steadily in it. Where love rules, there is nothing to trip us into ruin or to make us a snare to others. Hatred blinds and stumbles, but love gives clear sight and a firm step. To love our brother is to live in the open light of Christ, secure and unstumbling.
