What Does 1 Peter 1:15 Mean?
Peter sets the standard not by rules but by a Person. The God who called them is holy, and his character becomes the pattern for theirs.
Holiness here is not confined to worship or special moments; it reaches into all manner of conversation, the whole texture of daily life. The call itself carries the summons to resemble the One who issued it. To belong to a holy God is to be drawn, over time, into his likeness, in the marketplace as much as in prayer.
In the Original Language
hagios (ἅγιος), 'holy' -- set apart from the common, belonging wholly to God.
