What Does 1 Peter 1:25 Mean?
After the withering grass comes the great contrast: the word of the Lord stands forever. What seemed only an ancient promise Peter brings right up to his readers.
And then the turn that makes it personal: this very word is the gospel they have heard. The eternal word is not locked in the past or hidden in heaven; it has been preached to them, taken root in them, given them new birth. The thing that outlasts all flesh has been placed into their hands. On that they may safely build a life.
