Context

Peter writes to scattered, suffering Christians, urging humility under God's mighty hand and trust in His care.

What Does 1 Peter 5:7 Mean?

In one sentence: throw the whole weight of your worry onto God, because He genuinely cares about you. "Casting" is an active, deliberate transfer -- not a vague hope that things work out, but handing the load to Someone able to carry it.

The reason is tender: "he careth for you." You are not bothering God with your concerns; your well-being matters to Him. The verse follows a call to humility -- casting your cares is itself an act of humble trust.

In the Original Language

The Greek "merimna" (care) is anxiety or worry -- the thing to be thrown off, not carried. "Melo" means to be concerned about -- God's personal concern for you.

Application

Name your anxieties specifically and deliberately hand each one to God in prayer, trusting that your well-being truly matters to Him.
