What Does 2 Timothy 4:18 Mean?

Paul's confidence rises to a doxology. He is sure the Lord will rescue him from every evil attack and bring him safely into His heavenly kingdom. Overflowing with assurance, he bursts into praise: to Him be glory forever and ever, Amen.

Notice how Paul's hope has moved beyond mere physical rescue. He trusts the Lord to preserve him all the way into the heavenly kingdom, the deliverance that no death can undo. Facing execution, he is more certain than ever of his ultimate safety in God's hands. For the reader, this is the triumph of faith over fear. The believer's final deliverance is not escape from death but preservation through it into glory. And the fitting response to such assurance is worship. Paul ends not with anxiety but with praise, giving glory to the God who keeps His people safe unto the kingdom that has no end.
