Joel 3:18

In that day the land overflows with wine, milk, and water, and a fountain from the LORD's house waters even the dry valley.

What Does Joel 3:18 Mean?

The book rises to a vision of overflowing abundance. In that day the mountains will drip with new wine, the hills flow with milk, and the streams of Judah run full with water. Most wonderful of all, a fountain will come forth from the house of the LORD and water even the valley of Shittim, a dry and distant place. The barren land of chapter one is now drenched in life.

The fountain flowing from God's house is the crowning image, for it shows that the source of all this life is the presence of God Himself. This picture of living water issuing from the sanctuary appears elsewhere in Scripture's visions of restoration, and it points to the One who gives living water that becomes a spring welling up to everlasting life. Where God dwells, life flows outward to the driest places. The God who let the harvest fail now floods the land with blessing from His own house, satisfying every thirst from the wellspring of His presence.
