Context

Jude closes his brief letter with a doxology, a burst of praise to God. Having urged believers to remain faithful amid false teaching, he reminds them that their security ultimately rests in God's keeping power.

What Does Jude 1:24 Mean?

Jude 1:24 means that God Himself is powerful enough to hold His people secure and to one day set them before His glory without blame and full of overflowing joy. After warning his readers to keep themselves (v. 21), Jude now lifts their eyes to the One whose keeping makes their keeping possible. The whole weight finally rests on God's ability, not ours. He "is able" -- the phrase rings with confidence -- to guard us from stumbling and ultimately from a final, fatal fall.

The picture grows even more wonderful: He will "present you faultless before the presence of his glory." The word translated faultless was used of an unblemished offering, fit to be brought before God. Through Christ, the believer will one day stand in that holy presence without spot or accusation. And the mood of that moment is "exceeding joy" -- a joy that belongs both to the redeemed who are received and to the Savior who delights to present them. What begins as a warning ends as a promise, and the promise is radiant with gladness.

In the Original Language

The Greek "aptaistous" (from falling) means without stumbling, and "amōmous" (faultless) was used of a sacrifice without blemish, fit to be offered to God.

Application

When you fear your own weakness, rest in the One who is able to hold you; your standing before God depends on His keeping power, which gives both security and deep joy.
