Paul recalls that the Philippians alone supported him financially from the earliest days of his ministry.

What Does Philippians 4:15 Mean?

Paul recalls their long partnership. From the very beginning of the gospel among them, when he left Macedonia, no church shared with him in the matter of giving and receiving except the Philippians alone.

Their generosity was not new but had marked their relationship from the start, when others held back. The language of giving and receiving was drawn from the world of accounts and partnership, picturing a genuine fellowship in which the Philippians gave material support and shared in the spiritual fruit. They had been Paul's faithful partners when no one else stepped forward. This kind of steady, sacrificial support is precious and rare. Paul remembers it with gratitude, honoring a church that had stood with him through the years. Their giving was an expression of a partnership in the gospel that had endured from the first day until now.
