Southminster Presbyterian Church

About this church

Southminster Presbyterian Church welcomes in-person and livestream worshipers at 10 a.m. Sunday from 916 East Central Road in Arlington Heights. The congregation identifies as welcoming and affirming across ages, races, ethnicities, gender identities and expressions, sexual orientations, and backgrounds. First-time guests will find free parking, mostly casual dress, childcare during most services, Children's Chapel for older children, and a family seating area inside the sanctuary. Weekly sermons connect biblical wisdom with contemporary life and are archived online.

Southminster calls itself an “Oasis of Hope, Healing, and Renewal,” and its mission work gives that language a practical shape. The recurring God Energizing Mission project organizes volunteers across generations to repair, paint, clean, and landscape homes for local low-income and older residents in partnership with community agencies. Other projects have responded to natural disasters around the country. Youth gather for game nights, outings, retreats, service, and mission trips; eighth graders and other eligible students can prepare for confirmation through classes, a retreat, service work, and a personal statement of faith. Parents can also explore the congregation's preschool and children's programming. The 10 a.m. livestream offers an easy preview, but the in-person experience adds child-friendly spaces and a congregation accustomed to visitors arriving in anything from jeans to more traditional Sunday clothing.
