St John's Lutheran Church

About this church

St. John's Lutheran Church gathers for worship with Holy Communion at 10 a.m. Sunday at 8808 Harford Road in Parkville, with recorded services available online. Children, teenagers, and adults may attend Sunday School from 9 to 9:45. The main red doors face Harford Road; guests coming from the parking lot can use the central accessible entrance, and an elevator reaches the third-floor sanctuary. Communion includes bread or gluten-free wafers and wine or grape juice, and people who do not commune may come forward for a blessing.

This Evangelical Lutheran Church in America congregation pairs worship with an extensive neighborhood-service network. Members pack weekly lunches for children facing food insecurity, collect food for a local pantry, make quilts and blessing bags, support veterans, and host recovery and community groups. Its Caring Friends ministry keeps in touch with homebound members through calls, mail, visits, prayer, and Communion. On the first Wednesday of the month, a brief 6:45 p.m. Communion service with blended piano-and-guitar music follows a community meal. Because Sunday School and Wednesday programming can follow seasonal calendars, newcomers should confirm the current homepage notice while using the weekly 10 a.m. service as the most dependable first visit.
