First Presbyterian Church of Lufkin

About this church

First Presbyterian Church of Lufkin holds Sunday School at 9:30 a.m. and worship at 10:45, with a Facebook Live option for people joining remotely. The congregation summarizes its Sunday purpose with two movements: grow as a child of God and go into the world to share God's love. Its mission presents church life as a common purpose shared by people of many shapes, sizes, and backgrounds through worship, work, and service. A Brown Bag Bible Study also provides an online point of connection during the week.

Lufkin Presbyterians began their own Sunday School and separate meetings in 1907, supported by local members who worked to build interest in the community. The church later called its first regular minister as the congregation took shape. Today, the Janeway Avenue building sits beside Pine Crest Retirement Community, a useful landmark for first-time drivers. The official pages are concise rather than a full visitor handbook, so newcomers should use the fixed 9:30 and 10:45 Sunday sequence, contact the church for children's class details, and check Facebook for the current livestream. People interested in weekday study can request the current Zoom information for Brown Bag Bible Study rather than relying on an older meeting link.
