First United Methodist Church - Lufkin

About this church

First United Methodist Church of Lufkin publishes a 10:00 a.m. Sunday gathering, with children’s Sunday School beginning at 9:00 and student Sunday School at 8:45. The church has served the Lufkin area for more than 150 years and continues under a mission of making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. Traditional and contemporary worship ministries include choir, handbells, a worship band, sound, lighting, and video teams.

Nursery care is available for infants through pre-K, and children meet Wednesdays from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. for games and Bible study. Acolyte and crucifer training helps fourth- through sixth-grade students understand the liturgical calendar, worship symbols, and service roles. Adults can join Sunday School, Bible studies, women’s gatherings, or Prime Timers fellowship and service for people fifty-five and older. Because the student and children’s pages show slightly different early-Sunday start times, families should confirm the appropriate classroom and arrive before the earliest applicable hour.
