What Does 2 Samuel 19:25 Mean?
As Mephibosheth comes to meet David, the king puts a direct question to him: Why did you not go with me? During David's flight, Mephibosheth's servant Ziba had accused his master of staying behind to seize Saul's old kingdom. David now gives Mephibosheth the chance to answer the charge to his face.
It is gracious to let the accused speak rather than condemning him on report alone. David does not act on Ziba's word without hearing Mephibosheth.
