What Does 2 Samuel 9:5 Mean?
Knowing now where the heir is, David acts. He sends messengers and has him brought from the house where he had been sheltered, carrying him from the forgotten place to the presence of the king. The man does nothing to earn this summons; he is sought, found, and fetched.
The whole movement belongs to the king. The crippled heir could not journey to the throne on his own; he had to be brought. So salvation begins not with our climbing toward God but with His sending and seeking, drawing the helpless out of their hiding into His presence.
