Daniel presses his confession further: how can someone like himself, only a servant, speak with such a lord? At the sight of the glory before him, his strength failed and even his breath left him. He feels the infinite distance between his frailty and the majesty he beholds.

Yet the question itself is the doorway to grace, for God delights to draw near precisely to those who know they cannot reach Him. The breathless servant will be given breath again.
