What Does Daniel 6:26 Mean?
The king issues a new decree, this one commanding reverence throughout his realm for the God of Daniel. He declares Him the living God, steadfast forever, whose kingdom shall never be destroyed and whose dominion endures to the end. The proclamation marvels at a sovereignty greater than the king's own.
The contrast with the earlier decree is profound. The first command had exalted the throne of Darius; this one bows before the throne of God. Earthly kingdoms, however vast, are passing, but God's kingdom shall not be destroyed and His dominion has no end. The everlasting reign Daniel had glimpsed in earlier visions is here confessed by a Gentile king, pointing toward the kingdom that all the faithful await, which shall never pass away.
