What Does Ephesians 4:6 Mean?
The list of 'ones' reaches its height: 'One God and Father of all.' Above the one body, one Spirit, and one Lord stands the one God and Father. The whole company of the redeemed has a single Father, which makes them one family bound by one fatherhood.
This Father is 'above all, and through all, and in you all' -- transcendent over His people, at work among them, and present within them. He surrounds and fills the church entirely. The unity Paul pleads for rests finally on this: one God who is Father to all His children.
