Moses is out in the desert watching sheep when he sees the strangest thing — a bush on fire that won't burn up. And out of the fire, God speaks his name.
Today's Story
Moses was a shepherd now, far out in the quiet desert. One ordinary day, he saw something that stopped him cold.
A bush was on fire. But it wasn't burning up! The flames danced and danced, and the bush stayed green. “I have to go look at this,” Moses said.
As he stepped closer, a voice called out from inside the fire. “Moses! Moses!”
“Here I am,” said Moses.
“Take off your sandals,” said God. “The place where you are standing is holy ground.” Moses pulled off his sandals as fast as he could. He covered his face. He was standing right in front of God.
“I have seen how My people are hurting in Egypt,” God said. “I have heard them cry. And I am coming to rescue them. So I am sending you, Moses. Go and bring My people out.”
Moses gulped. “Me? Who am I to do that? And… if they ask me Your name, what should I tell them?”
And God said the words Moses would hold onto forever: “I will be with you.”
One bush. One voice. And a shepherd who had no idea he was about to change the world.

- God spoke to Moses from an ordinary bush, on an ordinary day, in an ordinary place. What's one ordinary thing you could stop and really notice today — where God might be near?
- Moses said, “Who am I? I can't do this!” But God said, “I will be with you.” What's something that feels too big for you that God might want to help you do?
- God told Moses to take off his shoes because the ground was holy. What helps you remember that God is near and listening to you?
