Isaiah now moves from interrogation to declaration, preparing to speak God's judgment.

Context

The formula 'Hear the word of the LORD' signals a shift from dialogue to prophecy. Isaiah becomes the instrument of divine judgment. The name 'LORD of hosts' emphasizes God's absolute power and authority over all things, earthly and heavenly. What follows will be a word that cannot be appealed or bargained with.

Application

When God's word comes to us through His messengers, the proper stance is to listen fully. We cannot interrupt, defend ourselves, or negotiate. The 'LORD of hosts' rules, and His word shapes history. Our role is to hear it, to receive it, to submit ourselves to it.
