Context
This is the direct consequence of Hezekiah's disclosure. By showing Babylon his full strength and wealth, he has inadvertently unveiled both the desirability and the vulnerability of what he possesses. The prophecy extends across generations ('thy fathers have laid up'), showing that the judgment touches the entire nation's legacy, not just Hezekiah's personal acquisitions.
Application
The consequences of our pride are often visited upon those after us. We cannot show the world our vulnerabilities and expect there to be no cost. Yet God often delays judgment enough to allow repentance and to show us that His word is trustworthy. We are called to live prudently, guarding not only what we ourselves have been given, but what we will leave for the next generation.
