God declares that Hezekiah's descendants will be taken captive and castrated to serve in the Babylonian palace.

Context

The prophecy now turns from property to persons, from treasures to family. The 'sons' are Hezekiah's descendants, born after this moment. They will be taken alive, subjected to the humiliation of castration (a common practice in ancient Near Eastern courts), and placed in servitude. This is the deepest consequence of Hezekiah's pride: his own lineage becomes enslaved.

Application

Our pride affects not only ourselves but those we love most deeply. We pass on not only genes and property, but the spiritual consequences of our choices. The call is to guard our hearts for the sake of future generations, to build legacies of faith rather than monuments to our own power.
