God describes leviathan's rows of scales as his glory, locked together as tightly as a sealed door.

What Does Job 41:15 Mean?

The creature's armored scales are called its pride, its glory, fitted so closely that they seem fastened with a tight seal. The image is of impenetrable defense, beauty and strength joined in one.

The seal speaks of something shut up secure, beyond breaking. So God has fashioned even the hide of this beast with a craftsmanship that resists every assault. The believer reads such design and remembers that the One who seals the scales of leviathan also keeps His own, for those who are His are sealed by His Spirit and held fast against the day of redemption.

Job 41:15 in the Original Language

chotham (חוֹתָם), 'seal' -- a signet or seal pressed to close and secure, marking ownership and protection.
