What Does Job 9:11 Mean?
After praising God's vast works, Job confesses the ache beneath them: this mighty God moves near him, even passes by, and Job cannot see Him. The One who is everywhere present feels, to the sufferer, hidden. Job senses God's nearness and His elusiveness at once.
Many faithful people know this hour, when God seems to pass just out of reach. Job's words are not unbelief but honest longing. And the longing is not in vain, for in the fullness of time the unseen God drew near in a way that could be touched and beheld. The God who once passed by unperceived has made Himself known in the face of Christ.
