What Does John 1:51 Mean?
The chapter closes with the first verily, verily of this Gospel, a solemn doubled affirmation, and the promise widens to all of them: ye shall see. The picture is Jacob's dream at Bethel, a ladder set on earth with its top reaching heaven and the angels of God ascending and descending. Where Jacob saw a ladder, the disciples will see the Son of man.
