What Does Matthew 26:64 Mean?
Thou hast said -- the affirmation given to a hostile court -- and then Jesus speaks His fullest public claim: Hereafter shall ye see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven. In one sentence He joins Psalm 110 and Daniel 7.
The prisoner declares Himself the enthroned and coming One; the right hand of power means the right hand of God. The roles will reverse: the judges will one day face the Judge. Every reader must do what Caiaphas did -- hear the claim of Jesus and render a verdict -- though heaven invites a better one.
Matthew 26:64 in the Original Language
dynamis (δύναμις), 'power' -- might; here a reverent way of naming God Himself.
