What Does John 12:10 Mean?
The council had already determined that Jesus must die. Now the plan widens: Lazarus, the living evidence of Jesus' power, must also be silenced, because his very existence keeps leading people to believe.
There is grim irony in plotting death against a man Jesus has already called out of the grave. Hardened unbelief would rather destroy evidence than follow where it points; when a heart is set against the truth, more proof only deepens resistance. Yet the verse also whispers comfort: those who belong to Jesus may be threatened, but they rest in the keeping of the Lord of resurrection.
