The Gershonite cities continue, now drawn from Issachar in the northern valleys. Two towns are named, each granted with its surrounding land for the flocks.

The fertile northern plains, too, become home to the servants of God. No region's abundance excused it from sharing in the support of the Levites. The Lord's ministers were planted among the harvests of the land, that those who reaped might also be taught to give thanks to the Giver.
