What Does Judges 11:3 Mean?
Driven out, Jephthah flees to Tob, a region beyond Gilead's settled life. There he becomes the leader of vain men, restless and landless fellows who attach themselves to him. In exile, far from inheritance and home, he learns to lead even among the discarded.
God is quietly preparing a deliverer in the wilderness. The very rejection that should have ended Jephthah instead becomes the place where he is shaped and tested.
