1 Chronicles 11 for Kids

For Kids · 4 min with a grown-up

The day David waited for his whole life has finally come — and we meet the brave friends who stood by his side.

Today's Story

At last, all the people of Israel came together to David. “You are the one,” they said. “You should be our king.” And so the shepherd boy who once fought a giant became king over the whole land.

David needed a home for his kingdom. He set his eyes on a strong, walled city called Jerusalem. People said it could never be captured — but with God's help, David's men climbed up and took it. From that day, it became the king's special city.

The Bible tells us the secret to David's strength: David became greater and greater, because the LORD who rules over all was with him.

David had brave helpers called his mighty men. One time, David was thirsty and said, “Oh, how I wish someone would get me a drink from the well back home in Bethlehem.” Three of his men loved him so much that they broke right through the enemy camp, drew the water, and carried it all the way back!

David was amazed. The water felt too precious to drink. So he poured it out as a gift to God and thanked Him for friends so brave and true.
