King David picks the people who will lead the music at God's house — a whole band of singers and players whose only job is to praise God.
Today's Story
King David loved to worship God with music. So when it was time to get God's house ready, David made sure of something important: there would be people whose whole job was to make music for God.
He chose three families to lead the way — the families of Asaph, Heman, and Jeduthun. They played harps and lyres, and they crashed the cymbals together with a happy noise. Day after day, they sang and they played and they gave thanks to God.
There were lots and lots of them — hundreds of singers and players! Moms and dads, big kids and little ones, all making music side by side. Some were teachers who had played for years. Some were just learning. But every single one had a part.
To decide who would play and when, they drew lots, like picking names from a hat. The youngest learner and the oldest teacher were treated just the same. Nobody was too small, and nobody was left out.
Can you imagine that sound? A whole house full of music, just to say thank You to God.
A Big Word
Memory Verse
Talk About It
- What is your favorite song to sing? How does music make you feel inside?
- In the music team, the littlest learner mattered just as much as the oldest teacher. Why do you think God wants everyone to have a part?
- The singers' whole job was to say “thank You” to God. What is something you can thank God for right now?
