1 Chronicles 27 for Kids

For Kids · 3 min with a grown-up

King David organizes his helpers so that everyone takes a turn — the work gets shared, and nobody has to do it all alone.

Today's Story

King David was a wise leader. He knew that a big job goes best when lots of people share it — and when everyone takes a turn.

So he split his helpers into groups. Each group of soldiers took care of the kingdom for just one month of the year. Then the next group took its turn, and the next, all the way through the twelve months. That way nobody had to work all the time, and the king always had help ready.

David also picked a leader for each family group in Israel, so every part of God's people had someone to look after it.

And there was a whole team to care for the king's things! One person watched over the fields. Another watched over the grapevines. Others looked after the camels, the donkeys, the sheep, and the cattle. Each helper had one job to do, and they did it well.

It was like a giant team, all working together. When everyone does their part and takes their turn, the work gets done — and no one is left carrying it alone.

A Big Word

Talk About It

  1. When have you taken turns with someone today — maybe sharing a toy, a game, or a job? How did it go?
  2. David made sure nobody had to do all the work alone. Why is it kinder to share a big job than to let one person carry it?
  3. Each helper had one thing to look after. What is one job you could happily take care of for your family?
