1 Chronicles 7 for Kids

For Kids · 3 min with a grown-up

1 Chronicles begins with a long list of family names — like a giant family tree that goes back and back and back.

Today's Story

This part of the Bible is a big list of names. It tells us about the families that came from Israel's sons — families with names like Issachar, Benjamin, Naphtali, and Ephraim.

To us, the names sound funny and hard to say. We do not know most of these people. But God knows every single one of them. He remembers their names the way you remember the names of the people you love.

The list tells about grandpas and grandmas, moms and dads, sons and daughters — family after family after family. Some were brave soldiers. Some were leaders. One was a baby girl named Sheerah who grew up and built whole towns!

Why would the Bible save all these names? Because God was keeping His big family safe, one person at a time, all the way through the years. Not one of them slipped through His fingers. Not one was forgotten.

And here is the wonderful part: you are part of God's big family too. He knows your name, your face, and everything about you.

A Big Word

Talk About It

  1. Who are the people in our own family? Can you name some of them?
  2. God remembered all those people, even the ones nobody else remembers. How does it feel to know God will never forget YOU?
  3. What is one thing about you that makes you special to God?
