1 Corinthians 2 for Kids

For Kids · 3 min with a grown-up

Paul keeps writing his letter to his church family. Today he tells them the most important thing he ever taught them.

Today's Story

Some people in Corinth liked to show off how smart they were. They used big, fancy words to make everyone think they were the cleverest.

Paul told them, “When I first came to you, I did not show off. I was not loud or fancy. I even came feeling weak and a little shaky.”

So what did Paul talk about? Only one thing. “I made up my mind to tell you about Jesus,” he said. That was his whole message. Jesus loves you. Jesus gave His life for you.

Paul knew a secret. The best, deepest things about God are not figured out by being the smartest kid in the room. God shows them to us as a gift. He whispers them to our hearts by His Spirit.

“No eye has seen, no ear has heard,” Paul wrote. God has good things waiting that are too wonderful to imagine! And He shares them with people who love Him — not the show-offs, but the ones who say, “God, please teach me.”

Talk About It

  1. Have you ever felt like you were not the smartest or the best at something? How did that feel?
  2. Paul said God teaches people who ask Him. What is something you would like to ask God to help you understand?
  3. God has good things waiting that are too wonderful to imagine. What do you think some of them might be?
